Welcome to the Clear Waters Oral History Project

Over the centuries the natural beauty of the English Lake District has been encapsulated by great writers and artists. Iconic lakes within this popular National Park are a focal point for accommodation and recreation, and underpin the local economy. As well as attracting visitors and businesses the lakes and their rivers also provide essential drinking water and sanitation. People's memories were used to explore the complex interactions between changes in the local human populations, recreation, wildlife, habitat, climate, and water quality. Find out more .....
